Theater is integral to our curriculum. Each year we produce two plays that come from the Classical cannon such as the works of Shakespeare, Aeschylus, and Chesterton. Rehearsals are every Friday after school with productions usually happening in December and May. When we perform, we do our best to glorify God and his creation and constantly ask for the intercession of St. Genesius, patron saint of Theater.
If we acknowledge that beauty touches us intimately….that it opens our eyes, then we rediscover the joy of seeing, of being able to grasp the profound meaning of our existence. -Pope Benedict XVI
At Holy Child, art is an essential part of our community. Students learn about, view and create great works of art associated with the Western Tradition. In the fall of 2016, students learned about and made an Egyptian Tomb and a Greek Temple. They look forward to studying and creating a monastery in the spring. Furthermore, our students have consistently competed in the Annual Archdiocesan Art Show. In 2015, Maya Guiterrez, won the top award for her division. Both her and Jacinta Sagastume’s pastel paintings were chosen to be auctioned at the Archbishop's dinner to raise funds for Catholic Schools. Our art curriculum truly fulfills the mission to make the true, the good and the beautiful a living reality accessible to our students.
For several years now, the Junior St. Vincent De Paul Club has undertaken service projects which have been student led.
The school provides opportunities for choral instruction and lessons for violin, cello, viola, and piano. For further information, please see our Arts page.
